Electric Hombre is Kurt Strazdins. I wanted a place where I could post my work and let people see and hear it. I will be putting up videos of my animations and I will be posting music files of songs I have recorded with my friends over the years. The bulk of the songs will be from the Skurj vaults which are very deep. I am not sure what this site should be or will be. I plan on figuring that out as time goes on. Maybe in a year I’ll be selling doll clothes and tea sets here…I hope not.

For right now I am posting a resume since I will also be posting a reel etc. on the site.

I am responsible for designing animations and graphics for the news, promotions and sales departments.These include news stingers, news animations, promo animations, commercial animations, logo design, news pre-production and various other web and print projects. I am using Cinema 4d, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash.

Animation Illustrator, Knight Ridder / Tribune (News in Motion)
(Washington, DC) June 2000 - December 2004
News in Motion was a news service specializing in explainer animations with national
and international clients. I was responsible for the daily designing of 3-D and 2-D news animations. I used After Effects, Cinema 4D, Photoshop, Poser, Illustrator and Soundtrack. I also directed the launch of News in Motion’s still graphics library, and I have contributed 3-D illustrations for Knight Ridder / Tribune’s newspaper clients.

My responsibilities included designing graphics for the 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
newscasts and the creation of graphics for the Sales Department. I used a Liberty
Paintbox, Photoshop and Illustrator. I also ran Chyron in a vacation relief capacity.

Through a partnership with WACH Fox 57, I functioned as a one-man Art Department for WACH’s new 10 p.m. newscast. I also designed and ran graphics for WIS newscasts.

I was responsible for designing 2-D and 3-D video graphics for Colonial’s in-house
productions.

Camera Loader, NBC TV movie
(Wilmington, NC) March 1995
My duties during filming consisted of loading Panavision and Arriflex film magazines,
setting up video assist, keeping up with paperwork, and aiding the Camera Department
on set.
